About Geoffrey Woods      

This painting was created by Geoffrey Woods, the son of Jeff Roberts a well-known and highly regarded aboriginal artist. Although Jeff Roberts is now deceased, Geoffrey Woods continues on to paint, utilizing the painting skills and Dreamtime stories taught to him by his father.                          

Geoffrey is from Gwonangerup, South of Albany and is a Noongar man of the Wilomin people of the South West of Western Australia.
His style is traditional, but unique and inspired by the Dreamtime stories of his people Geoff paints stories from his country that had been passed down to him from his tribal elders for many generations.

About the artwork

In this painting, Geoff paints two turtles, two dolphins and two stingrays. The design inside the one turtle represents the six tribes from the Great Southern Area: Qualup Tribe, Mongup Tribe, Korkar Tribe, Bremer Bay Tribe, Corackerup Tribe, and the Wilomin Tribe. The design inside the second turtle represents a Wilomin man, kangaroo and emu passing by areas.
