Mary Morton is a senior member of the Utopia community. Mary's paintings represent women's ceremonies and the way in which the women look after their country and promote health and well-being in the community. 

About the painting

The linear pattern of this painting represents the ceremonial body paint design associated with Apeng (Kurrajong) Dreaming from the Antarrengeny Country. The women paint their bodies using ochres mixed with animal fat, onto their chest, breasts, upper arms, and naval.
